Water Sports

You can enjoy surfing, swimming, yachting and windsurfing in some of the cleanest waters in Europe. There is very little heavy industry in Sligo and nothing to pollute the wonderful coastline, which fringes 4,800km of broad Atlantic – after all the next landfall west is North America. Blue Flag beaches – designated by the EC for safety and the quality of the water and facilities – are the rule rather than the exception in this part of the world. Good surfing can be found at Strandhill and Easkey and there is a thriving yacht and sailing club at Rosses Point.
